Locational Context
The Millennium Mills Site, also known as Silvertown Quays, is located around Pontoon Dock, an extension of the Royal Victoria Dock, adjacent to the Thames Barrier and opposite the Excel convention centre. The site is part of the Newham Borough of East London and is quite a large at 50-62 acres. It sits next to London City airport and is surrounded by the DLR line and the A1020 main road. The two iconic, landmark heritage buildings that occupy the site, and what the regeneration is focused upon, are Millennium Mills and Grade II-listed Silo D. They are in desperate need of redevelopment as they have been sitting derelict since they closed; which is a couple of decades.
