Neighbourhood Structure
Below is an explanation into the facilities that we are proposing as these are crucial for community cohesion and getting locals into the area. We didn't want to put forward something that would forget about the existing community.

We wanted to create an area which included all the necessities for the community, so it wouldn’t let them down. As such we put forward a new library designation as the closest one, Custom House Library is a bit of a trek. Within the same building, we are putting forward the idea of a computer café to attract students as well as people who may not have access to a computer. In doing so it may get people to check out the library.
There is a leisure facility which includes a gym, climbing wall, swimming pool, AstroTurf court on the top of the building, and the decking space outside can be an extension to allow more outdoor activities like Yoga for example. This facility should help to keep locals fit and healthy whilst providing socialising activities.
The community facility building will include an NHS clinic as there isn’t one in the immediate area, child care services, training facilities, youth clubs and a rooftop socialising space which could be a garden/playing area, but it would be appropriate to ask the community rather than strictly impose one or the other.
A play area is provided in the courtyard of one of the apartment blocks. And the open green space and small parks should provide enough space for community activities and interaction with nature.
The mixed-use building on the corner will provide additional space for community activity on the roof. With the area being active people should provide an additional level of security down on the streets below.
All of these facilities are situated pretty much in the middle of the area, and due to the pedestrian routes, they should be easy to get to. The bus route would also transport people to these facilities if they rely on the bus over the DLR.
